AWE offers a varied itinerary
throughout the year for small groups, including Whale watching (Orcas)and
skiing during the winter months (Nov-Jan) to tented treks during the
summer under the midnight sun. Additionally, there will be beautiful rock
carvings to visit, as well as to Arran, the important indigenous Sami
centre with its small but informative museum. As with all our programmes,
these tours have a low environmental impact and are arranged in close
co-operation with the local communities. You will travel, observe and
learn.
Whale
watching
The Hamarøy/Tysfjord area is a unique
ecological environment. Most of it is pristine wilderness with
communities established along the coastal strip and nearby islands that
are mainly sustained by forestry, fishing and farming. the marine life
around the islands and skerries close to our base, as well as some of the
fastest currents in Northern Europe, provide a fascinating tour.
The arctic night offers its beauty

The trail lasts for 3-7 days. Nature
will communicate with you in a thousand ways. It could be the aurora
borealis shimmering above the winter landscape, the sound of a roaring
river which you may have to cross in summer, or the sight of stampeding
reindeer. Whatever it may be, this ancient land will remind you of where
your ancestors first came from – and where you still belong.
